Molybdenum-98 (Mo-98) is a highly enriched stable isotope of molybdenum.
Product application
Mo-98 is used to produce, via irradiation in a reactor, Tc-99m for cancer diagnostics. This is an alternative direct method of producing Tc-99m to the long-standing method of producing Tc-99m from technetium generators charged with Mo-99. Molybdenum-98 isotope is used for radionuclide production in medical purposes e.g. diagnosis of diseases of brain, liver, kidneys, lungs, gallbladder, lymph nodes, various types of tumours.
